Hodags retain the College Easterns trophy

March 29th, 2010 - Prior to heading to Pensacola for a week of fun, the Hodags returned to College Easterns in Wilmington, NC, for the first time since 2007. The team had originally planned to attend Roll Call in Chesapeake, MD, that same weekend, but adjusted their plans weeks prior in seek of stronger competition. After recovering from an early deficit against a surprisingly impressive Middlebury squad in semi-finals, the team earned a much-desired rematch against a Pittsburgh team that handed the Hodags a 13-10 loss at Stanford Invite the month prior. This time the Wisconsin squad was able to come out on top with a 14-11 victory. The Hodags add their 2010 title to their 2006 and 2007 College Easterns championships, making the team 3 for 3 in their recent appearances at the tournament. After promising to return the Easterns trophy that had been taken and kept in Wisconsin since 2007, the Hodags brought it back to Wilmington only to take it right back home. The team now adjusts their focus to the College Series, and aims to regain the regional crown in Northfield, MN, this upcoming May.
Mardi Gras 7-Peat
February 17th, 2010 - The Wisconsin Hodags survive a lost chartered bus, a blizzard storm, ridiculously muddy fields, and a first round loss to North Park to earn their 7th straight Mardi Gras Championship complete with King Cake. The first round loss to North Park has been characterized as a Travel Coordinator snafu. The drive-through-the-night car made it to the fields about 30 minutes to game-time, while the charter bus went to the wrong field site (weather change). North Park, having played an entire game already, agreed with Crumbly not to assess points despite the Hodags arriving about 20 minutes after game time. They were even nice enough to let Wisconsin do an abbreviated dynamic and layout into a mud puddle drill - before the game began. One break was scored the entire game and North Park prevailed 11-12, dominating Hodag defenders in the muddy conditions.
